My Secret Identity {Five Minute Friday}

Last week I shared about hiding behind a mask. How it is an easy thing to do. How I am trying to avoid wearing one from now on.

Today I am taking it off to reveal a hidden desire.

writing in the journal

Are you ready for it?

I want to be a writer.

There, I said it.

I have always dreamed of crafting prose in the wee hours of the morning while sipping a now-cold-latte, struggling to find that perfect word.

This isn’t something that I haven’t shared with many people. Most people that I know in real life don’t even know I have a blog or that I am currently writing a book.

Yesterday, I shared this with a dear friend.
It was difficult.
I felt silly calling myself a writer.

Maybe I just need to keeping saying it out loud. Writing it. Typing it. Until I believe it…

I am a writer.

Do you have a secret identity?

Removing My Mask {Five Minute Friday}

I have been hiding behind a mask–maybe more than one–for most of my life. I often fear allowing others see the real me. This is wrong, and I know it…

I consider myself a recovering perfectionist and people-pleaser.

In college, I learned to be more open with people. My friends saw me on my good days and bad days. They weren’t afraid to ask the hard questions. To step on my toes a little. In love, of course.

Now that I’m older, I feel like I am reverting back to that scared little girl behind the mask again. I am struggling to live in God’s grace and allow people to see the real me.

I want to be authentic.

au·then·tic   [aw-then-tik]
1. not false or copied; genuine; real: an authentic antique.
2. having the origin supported by unquestionable evidence; authenticated; verified: an authentic document of the Middle Ages; an authentic work of the old master.
3. entitled to acceptance or belief because of agreement with known facts or experience; reliable; trustworthy: an authentic report on poverty in Africa.

So, here’s the deal…  From now on I am going to attempt to be more transparent.

I’m taking off the mask.

Won’t you join me?

Spilling The Beans (Because I Don’t Like Secrets)

Have you noticed that I haven’t been around much lately? It’s because I have a secret…

Can I Tell You A Secret?

I could blame my absence on a variety of things:

  • My husband being injured and at home.
  • Allergies.
  • A lack of sleep.
  • My facination with Psych and The Big Bang Theory.

Honestly, these are all partly to blame.  The truth is, I’ve been a bit distracted…

I’m working on a project.  Two, in fact:

Compiling an e-book!
Launching a new blog!

These two projects (along with taking care of my family) have kept me quite busy. I am super excited about them and look forward to sharing more information with you in the near future.

Until then, you at least know what I’m up to. :)
