Last week my daughter was very sick with a high fever. Even after a trip to the ER and a doctor visit the next day, we couldn’t figure out what was wrong with her.
As I held her, I began making funny faces to see if she would respond. Her face lit up!

Seeing this reminded me of Proverbs 17:22,
“A joyful heart is good medicine,
But a broken spirit dries up the bones.”
In light of this, I am striving to be a more playful mama, even when I don’t feel like it. It’s worth the effort when I see my daughter’s beautiful smile and hear her giggle.
When is the last time you did something silly to make your children laugh?

Mmm, so true! I’ll try to make others laugh, but not always think of the need for my children to as well. Great reminder, thank you!
That’s a good point, Lauren. Thanks for your comment!
Great post! Very encouraging for today!
So glad this encouraged you today, Danielle!
Very encouraging! My daughter was sick this week too (she’s four), so she spent a lot of time laying around on the couch and just wanted me to sit close to her. I wanted to do other things, but I realized I had to put those aside and just spend some time with her.
Bonnie, it is so important to learn to cherish moments like those! I hope everyone in your home is well now.
